Background & Education

Well-versed in the field of colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Tizio works with patients at his private practice in Neptune, New Jersey. He can also be found on staff at HMH Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, he is involved in the teaching of surgical residents and medical students.

In regard to his educational background, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at Princeton University in 1998. He has a Master of Science in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. In 2006, he obtained his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and became a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2013 where he was a Clinical Fellow of Harvard Medical School. He completed his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery with the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, TX in 2014.

An authority in his field, Dr. Tizio is board certified in colon and rectal surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Colorectal Surgery (ABCRS) and the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABCRS and ABS are both an independent, non-profit organization founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge. Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Tizio is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (FASCRS).

Dr. Tizio specializes in Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery, which allows for a quicker patient recovery time and return of normal bowel function.
